Your VEED account comes with its own workspace, created automatically when you sign up. You'll only see more than one if someone has invited you into theirs. This article explains how workspaces work, how to switch between them, and what's shared between them, which is almost nothing.
Why you might have more than one workspace
Every account has one workspace of its own. Additional workspaces appear when someone adds you as a collaborator to theirs, so if you're seeing several, each extra one belongs to a person or team who invited you.
You can't create workspaces yourself. If you need to keep work separated within your own workspace, Spaces do that job instead. See how VEED's dashboard works for how Spaces are set up.
How workspaces work
They're completely separate. Being a collaborator in one workspace gives you no access to any other. Someone can only see a workspace they've been added to.
Each has its own billing. A subscription on one workspace doesn't upgrade any other. If you're on a paid plan in a colleague's workspace, your own workspace stays on whatever plan you bought for it. See how to subscribe and manage your subscription.
Only the owner can make changes. Upgrading a plan, changing a subscription, and inviting or removing collaborators are all owner-only. See how to add a collaborator.
Projects can be copied to another workspace. To get a project into a different workspace, open it in the editor, click the
…button beside the project name and select Duplicate Project. You can then choose which workspace the copy goes to. To move a project between Spaces and folders inside the same workspace, see how to move projects.
How to navigate between workspaces
Log in to your VEED account.
Click on your Profile picture in the top-right corner of your screen.
From the dropdown menu, hover over the first option where the Workspace name is.
Select the workspace at the bottom of the window under the Switch Workspace section.
Deleting a workspace
Your account needs a workspace to work. Deleting the only workspace on your account will stop you logging in, so this isn't something to do casually. Deleting isn't available on free accounts.
If you do need a workspace removed, contact us through the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner and we'll help you do it safely.
Before anything is deleted, make sure:
You’ve exported any projects you’ll want later, or duplicated them into another workspace. Deleting a workspace deletes everything in it.
The subscription on that workspace is cancelled, if it has one. See how to cancel your subscription.
If you simply want to leave a workspace someone else invited you to, ask its owner to remove you as a collaborator. That doesn't affect your own workspace.
FAQ
Q: Can I create a new workspace?
No. Every account comes with one workspace, and additional ones can't be created. To organize work within your workspace, use Spaces.
Q: Can I move projects between workspaces?
Yes, by duplicating them. Open the project, click the
…button beside the project name and select Duplicate Project, then pick the workspace you want the copy in. The original stays where it was, so you can delete it afterwards if you no longer need it. Inside the same workspace, you can move projects between Spaces and folders directly.
Q: I'm on a paid plan, so why does another workspace show as free?
Each workspace is billed on its own. Your subscription applies only to the workspace you bought it for. If you're a collaborator in someone else's workspace, its plan is whatever its owner has paid for.
Q: Why can I suddenly see a workspace I didn't create?
Someone has added you to theirs as a collaborator. You'll have access to that workspace's projects, and the owner can remove you at any time.
Q: Can collaborators see my other workspaces?
No. People can only see the workspaces they've been added to. Someone in one of your workspaces has no visibility of any other.
Q: How do I leave a workspace I've been invited to?
Ask the workspace owner to remove you as a collaborator. This also stops them being charged for your seat. See how collaborator charges are calculated.
