How to use the Clean Audio tool

Remove background noise from your videos and audio with VEED's Clean Audio tool. Strip out hum, wind, static, and echo in one click for clearer sound.

Clean Audio uses one-click AI to remove background noise from your recordings — hums, wind, static, traffic, and echo — leaving clear, studio-quality sound. It works on both video and audio files, with no manual adjustment needed.

Limitations

  • Free plan: one-time use per account.

  • Creator, Pro, Studio, and Enterprise: full access.

What is Clean Audio?

Clean Audio is an AI audio tool available in the Editor → AI Tools panel. It analyses the audio on your selected clip, strips out unwanted background noise, and evens out the volume, all in a single click.

Common use cases

  • Cleaning up interviews or talking-head footage recorded in noisy rooms

  • Removing air conditioning hum, traffic, or wind from outdoor recordings

  • Reducing echo in footage shot in large or empty spaces

  • Evening out inconsistent volume across a podcast or voiceover

How it works

  1. Upload your file: Open the Editor (click "Edit" in the left panel in the main dashboard), and add your video or audio file. See how to upload video, audio, music, or image files if you need a hand.

  2. Select your clip on the editor canvas or in the timeline to activate its editing options.

  3. Open the AI Tools tab in the left panel.

  4. Click Clean Audio.

  5. Wait while your audio processes. Short clips take a few seconds; longer files take proportionally longer.

  6. Preview the result. From here you can carry on editing or export your project.

Things to note

Clean Audio applies three improvements at once:

  • Removes distracting background sounds such as wind, AC hum, traffic, static, and echo.

  • Enhances speech for a clearer, more professional result.

  • Normalizes volume so levels stay consistent throughout.

Processing time varies with the length and complexity of your file. Clean Audio is applied to the clip you selected, so if your project has several clips you'll need to run it on each one.
