Text to Speech (also called AI Voice) converts written text into natural-sounding audio directly in the VEED editor. Type or paste your script, pick a voice, and get a voiceover clip you can drop straight into your timeline — no microphone and no recording session needed.
Limitations
Uses AI Credits for each generation, on every plan.
Maximum 5,000 characters per generation. Longer scripts need to be generated in sections.
Only one voice clone can be created per workspace
How much you can generate depends on your plan:
Free: up to 10 minutes per month, in the regions where free plans have credits. AI credits in free plans are available in some regions only. Where they are, you can generate files up to 12 seconds long. If you don't see credits on your free plan, they aren't offered in your region.
Creator: up to 4 hours per year
Pro: up to 144 hours per year
Studio: up to 960 hours per year
What is Text to Speech?
Text to Speech is an AI audio tool found in the Editor → Audio tab. It reads your written text aloud in the voice and language you choose, then adds the result to your timeline as a normal audio clip you can trim, move, and mix like any other.

How to use text to speech (AI Voice)
Open a project first: You'll need your footage in the editor before you can remove its background. If you already have a project, open it from Recents on your dashboard. If not:
Start from a blank project — click Edit video in the left panel, then upload your video.
Start by recording — open More apps at the bottom of the left panel and click Record.

Select your clip: Click it on the canvas or on the timeline.
Open AI Tools: Click AI Tools in the left sidebar of the editor.
Click AI Voice (Processing time depends on the length of your video)
Select the Language: Select the language you want the speech to be generated.
Select the voice: Click on Actors and select from our AI voices, or click on Voice Clone to use your own.
Click “Generate”: The AI will convert your text into a speech clip.
Review and edit: Your voiceover appears in the timeline. You can trim, move it, adjust volume, or pair it with video.
Export: Once you're happy, click Export to download your file.

Click on your video in the timeline in the editor
Click Audio in the left panel
Click AI Voice
Things to note
Generated audio behaves like any other clip in your timeline, so you can layer it over music, split it, or move it between scenes.
You can preview your voiceover as many times as you like before exporting.

Q: Can I download just the audio?
Yes. Once you've exported your project, use the Download MP3 option to save the audio on its own.
Q: Which languages and accents are available?
Over 50 languages, each with a range of voice styles to choose from.
Q: Does the voice sound robotic?
No. Our voices are built to sound natural, with realistic pacing and intonation rather than the flat delivery older text-to-speech tools produced.
Q: Can I listen to it before exporting?
Yes. Preview the clip in the editor and make any adjustments you want before finalizing your project.
Q: My script is longer than 5,000 characters. What do I do?
Split it into sections and generate each one separately. The clips will sit alongside each other in your timeline and can be arranged into a single continuous voiceover.
Q: Can I use my own voice?
Yes. Any voice clone in your workspace can be selected under Voice Clone instead of choosing one of our AI actors.
Q: Does Text to Speech use AI Credits?
Yes, on every plan including Free. Each generation deducts credits, and your plan also caps the total amount of audio you can generate.
